First, I have many files I do not want to lose, and am not a computer expert. As in many other such problems shown here, I am getting the black screen and "Windows not genuine" - this after a year of use, using what I believe to be genuine windows 7 Pro

sealed copy. I called Microsoft last night and the person (foreign) told me that the key I had was only good for a year! Is that even possible?

Next, I want to fix this the easiest way possible, and will pay for new key if necessary. What I don't want to do s to start a days long process that causes my existing data to be lost . Is there an easy solution for a non-computer geek?
