Windows 8 Password Expiration

I'm working with an internet friend on an issue with her Windows 8 password expiration. She has Windows 8 and is unable to set the password expiration so it doesn't ask to change the password so often. I have Windows 8 Pro and I am able to use

a couple of different methods to get into the advance User properties and reset the password expiration duration to whatever I want. She is unable to get to these options and is given an error that her version of Windows 8 does not use that snap-in.

This individual is 88 years old and dearly loves her Windows 8 and sings its praises to anyone who will listen. However, she lives by herself and is the only one who ever uses her computer. This is just an extremely annoying thing she would like

to fix. Is she stuck with not being able to manage her password just because she doesn't have Windows 8 Pro?
