Posted January 20, 201311 yr FPCH Admin I have Windows Vista. In as effort to download Windows Live Mail, I tried to install Windows Live Essentials, however was advised I needed to install Windows Platform Update. When I clicked on Windows Update, it produced a box which asked me to check for updates. I clicked on it and the following error message appeared "Windows Update cannot currently check for updates because the service is not running. You may need to restart the computer". No amount of restarting would do it. How can I progress this, please? View this thread Off Topic Forum - Unlike the Rest
