Posted January 18, 201311 yr FPCH Admin For several days now, when I start my system in the morning ... YES! I insist on shutting down at night. I think Microsoft is TOTALLY WRONG in making it so HARD to shut down Windows 8 relative to Windows 7. The method I use is to go to Settings > Power > Shutdown. Wait for the monitor to turn off. Then press and hold the power button on the PC which initiates a hardware shutdown. ... the system does a "Scanning and Repairing Drive" ... Which takes five minutes or so but has always completed successfully and then Windows 8 boots normally. What is happening? Should I be doing something differently?
