security essentials scans about 500,000 items on my new pc when it used to scan about 650,000 a coup

security essentials is scanning less items on my new pc than it was about 2 months ago. 500,000 compared to 650,000 originally. I ran defender offline and it scanned over 700,000 items. Any explanation regarding this please. thank you.
