FPCH Admin AWS Posted December 31, 2012 FPCH Admin Posted December 31, 2012 Hi, I bought a new laptop came with Windows 8 couple days ago, and it is driving me nuts. When I tried to restart or shut down the laptop, it had a chance that "Configuring Windows Features" would show up and waste me a lot of time. I have reset the whole system 2 times and it didn't help. Then I figured it out I should checked Event Viewer and see what happened. I found out that every time the"Configuring Windows Features" showed up, there would be a error called "The server {752073A1-23F2-4396-85F0-8FDB879ED0ED} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout." And I found a solution for W7: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itproinstall/thread/03452861-6d21-4f61-bbb9-56a5b8666a73 I didn't find RegistrySizeLimit on it so I created one myself I know the solution might not work for W8 but I gotta try. Actually, it worked, for two days, and it just happened again. The error and the "Configuring Windows Features" showed up again I went back to check the registry and RegistrySizeLimit was still there, so I decided to delete it and try it again. This time I did a SFC/SCANNOW which I forgot last time, and it told me that some corrupt files were found and fixed. Then, I restarted..... Configuring Windows Features. Pleas do not turn off your computer. Someone.....help..... :( P.S. My Windows Update was up to date and I turned the auto update off. Still, no help at all. Also I checked the Windows Update and Windows Features after the configuration. Apparently, there was no changes made. Update: I found another error on the event viewer: "CBS Client initialization failed. Last error: 0x80080005" So this could be the problem too?
