This may be a bit of an obscure one, but hopefully someone else is running WSUS on their server and has the same issue....

I've upgraded to Windows 8 Pro and am having an issue with using a live user ID as my login. However, this is a slightly different issue from the normal one:

I have WSUS installed on my WHS2011 (2008 R2) server and I finally managed to get the RSAT tools to install on my windows 8 client (I only have a couple of real clients, but use quite a few VMs as I am studying for Microsoft Certs, and I like to keep my

VMs up to date!).

However, the WSUS remote admin console won't connect from the Windows 8 Client to the WSUS on the server. I have saved a windows credential for my old local account so that file shares work, and they do work fine.

When I check the security log on the server after trying to connect the WSUS console, it shows that the full live ID (my_name@hotmail.com) is being passed across as the user name, so this is why the connection is being blocked.

I'm not really sure how to get around it. Of course, I can remote desktop into the server and administer WSUS that way, but it's nicer to be able to do it from my client PC.

Please note that this is a Home Server so it's not a Domain environment!

Any suggestions gratefully accepted.
