QUESTION 2012 1229 How can I reboot my Dell Dimension Desktop Computer running Windows XP after it has been infected with the "XP Defender" virus on 12/27/2012? The "XP Defender" virus made the computer completely and totally inoperable and would not allow

the operation of any software programs including: "Microsoft Security Essentials” “Task Manager” “Internet Explorer” “Control Panel application – Add or Remove Programs”… Each time I clicked on “Control Panel application – Add or Remove Programs” an “XP

Defender” dialogue-window would pop-up with… “rundll32.exe is infected with Hoax.HTML.Agent.i” or “rundll32.exe is infected with not-a-virus:AdWare.Win32.White Smoke.a” or “rundll32.exe is infected with ****-Tool.Win32.StripDance.d” or “rundll32.exe is infected

with Hoax.HTML.Agent.a” or “rundll32.exe is infected with Trojan.JS.Redirector.os” or “rundll32.exe is infected with not-a-virus:AdWare.Win32.Sushi.a” or “rundll32.exe is infected with Trojan.GameThief.Win32.Nilege.ipj” or “rundll32.exe is infected with Trojan.Clicker.JS.Agent.op”

or “rundll32.exe is infected with Trojan.JS.Fraud.ba” or “rundll32.exe is infected with Trojan.Downloader.JS.Agent.ftu”. Although I did not want to shut-down the computer for fear that the next start-up would allow the “XP Defender” virus to further embed

itself I was subsequently forced to turn-off the computer. After shutting-down the computer the computer would not reboot at the next start-up, not even with “any” of the Boot-up “F8” Safe-Mode options. After selecting “any” of the “F8” Safe-Mode options at

attempted Start-Up the display screen reverts to a "Blue-Screen" that displays the following… “Technical Information +++ Stop: 0x0000008E (0xC0000005, 0xF74A471D, 0xF78D9B78, 0x00000000) +++ atapi.sys – Address F74A471D bas at F749A000, Datestamp 4802539d.”

Taking into account the above circumstances, WHAT can I do to reboot the computer and begin to resolve the removal of the “XP Defender” virus? Thank you for your assistance! Abundant blessings... Love ~ jacque
