Windows Media Player does not work on Windows XP.

I was still having problems with my windows live messenger so I did a through cleaning of my computer for viruses and and anything else that might be corrupted and then I let a friend "fix" it believing him when he said he could. windows Media Player worked

fine before he touched it and now it won't respond the same way. I also use Firefox as my main browser just to mention that so if anyone else who uses that engine might be able to help or does that matter at all for that player. he worked for 5 hours trying

to get it to work right again but has finally given up. it also seems that every site that I thought might help ended up being for vista or windows 7-8. the windows media player does work just that I have to do a bunch of click on this and then that and then

play. I just want it back to normal. thx for any advice

Original title : how do I repair windows Media Player so it will automaticly play CDs or DVDsit stopped after I cleaned up my computer .
