I'm using a Toshiba Equium laptop on Vista, an HP F4180 printer. None is new (obviously) and the printer has worked fine in the past. It's been causing problems over the last few months and I've updated drivers when the HP website has said to do so. It worked OK for basic printing but sometimes took a while if there were heavy graphics. Suddenly, it decided to take about 5 minutes from 'print' to any action on the printer and then it would do one pass in about 5 minutes - so it is taking quite a long time to print anything. I swopped printers to my old HP 3920 and it was exactly the same. I've been through the troubleshooting procedure, print spooler is exactly as it should be so can only assume that it's not the printer at fault.

What to try next? Any ideas? Is the print spooler file corrupted? How to re-install? Will it help?

Any assistance would be appreciated.
