Hi y'all,

This my first time around w/Win 7/Premium. So far it looks pretty solid, I am wondering if the update: Windows Essential, SP1 Windows Defender security is all need for security, does it have a Anti-Virus built in? Or is it absolutely necessary to purchase

& install another anti-virus (Norton or Kaspersky)?

I have a new Kaspersky software disk that came with my refurbished PC, but I am a little concerned that it will cause a conflict w/OEM security & slow down my downloads..etc since it has to check every single thing that comes in, & goes out.

Can anybody tell me what my risks are just keeping my OEM W/7 w/win.def. as security. (I have always had past problems w/anti-virus software.)

I'm starting to wonder M-soft must have built some anti-virus software in their Win7 which they designed so well.

Could the well known big anti-virus software makers be using scare-tactics to force their product on us, & giving a kick-back to M-soft for every antivirus program sold? I don't mean to sound like a conspiracy nut, I just wonder if I really need to go

plunk down another 200$ on top of my brand new PC w/supposedly the best O.S yet. Sure would feel better not installing it if anybody can explain what windows defender does & doesn't do. Thanks for any info, regards, boulonman
