How do I stop Media Gallery from installing on my Sony VAIO?

I don't know if this was one of the recent updates from Microsoft or not, but I keep getting a pop up for the Media Gallery installation on my Sony VAIO laptop. It compiles the Media Gallery then afterwards it asks for a CD, which I don't have, for the

installation. This thing never goes away, no matter how many times I click 'cancel'. Can someone help me please?
