Can I install the Win 8 upgrade as a dual boot with Win 7?

I have purchased and downloaded but not installed the Win 8 Pro upgrade, I am presently running Win 7 64. The Win Upgrade Assistant gave the choice of

Install now, Install by Creating Media, or Install Later from your desktop. I chose the latter, and the Install Windows shortcut is now on the desktop. I have since learned that a Win 8 dual-boot cannot be done if installed through Windows.

Can this upgrade version be used to dual boot? (I have some apps that apparently won't run in Win 8)
