Posted November 17, 201212 yr FPCH Admin I have Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit SP2. Getting the 80070490 error on Windows update installs. The following solutions recommended by what have been able to find have not worked: I have tried Microsoft Readiness tool several time with no success. I have tried using my Vista system disk with using the UPGRADE option also several time and still no success. The upgrade option is always grayed out. I have done a new INSTALL 2 different times. I then run the Windows Update, over and over with each levels reboot.
