Virtual Blu Ray Drive programs or external Blu Ray Drives.... Which one? Myth or Muffin?

Greetings one and all,

Alrighty then let me give ya the sitch. When I purchased my computer two years ago I barely had the money, bucks, dough, or dollars to buy it so I had to skimped on what I desired. The main thing that got the proverbial axe was the Blu Ray drive/player,

my PS3 could handle plqaying those already so I wasn't too broken up about not having one in the computer, after all it was a short trek to the entertainment center to pop in the dics and hit play.

Well that was then and this is now and I've become totally lazy and would rather not have to make the now loooong trek to the PS3 to play my Blu Ray DVDs anymore and would rather have this accomplished via my computer without needing to install

another drive. So now I'm looking for ways to accomplish these tasks by getting either an external Blu Ray drive/player, or utilize one of the many "Virtual Blu Ray Drive/Player programs I've seen available for download on the net?

Now the first choice ie.. the external drive is a pretty easy thing to install, just pop the USB cord into the USB port and tah dah Bob's your uncle you've got a Blue Ray Drive/Player! The second path, that being the Virtual Blu Ray Drive/Player program, is

becoming a far more confusing matter, a matter that I'm now contacting you fine intelligent people about. Okay my stupid question is this..... Will these programs work via my factory installed DVD/CD Reader/Burner Combo Drive make it possible to play my Blu

Ray DVDs on my compute? Or will I actualy have to purchase something else to accomplish this?
