Why am I not able to update a security definition on Microsoft Security Essentials?

The issue just popped up today.

I use Microsoft Vista (I believe it's service pack 2). Microsoft Update is working without error. I have the latest updates installed except for this security definition. The time is set correctly. I can connect to the internet without error.

The error message I receive when I try to download is "Virus and Spyware definitions: Connection Failed", "Definitions Created on: 6/13/2012 at 6:05am", "Definitions last updated: 6/28/2012 at 3:34 AM", "Virus Definition Version: 1.129.601.0", "Spyware definition

version: 1.129.601.0".

Just checking on my update history in Microsoft Update, the failed defnition that I cannot download and install is "KB2310138 (Definition 1.129.768.0)".

I have attempted the troubleshooting steps at the MSE site. I've rebooted the computer several times and restored the comptuer to 2 and 3 days ago. Nothing is resolving this issue. Very frusterated.

Thanks for any assistance!!!
