I use trend micro Pc-cillen Internet security

2007.

I have had zero problems running it with Vista.

You can load it on up to 3 machines.

They also have a housecall product that can

scan your computer from your browser.

I have tried AVG, Norton, and several others.

By far, I think pc-cillen is the best. Warning -

it can be a resource hog, if everything is turned on.

There are only 2 antivirus programs I would even consider:

1. Kaspersky AV (KAV) or their suite (KIS), currrently at version 7.0.0.125

which is 100% Vista-compatible. This new version includes a new active

heuristics engine which scans for "suspect" items not covered by it's Pro

Active Defense definitions. KAV has a 99.7% positive detection rate. It uses

very little memory, it's fast, easy to use and runs great right out of the

box. Support on the Kaspersky Forums is excellent too.

2. NOD32 is another very good product, albeit not quite as effective as

Kaspersky. However, it is right up there and rates a strong second place,

IMHO.

I've installed KAV on well over 100 of my customer's PC's of all flavors and

have never had a complaint nor has any of them ever been infected.

Do you know what anti-virus software can or cannot do?

The most efficient from my experience is NOD32, meaning it is least

likely to impact the performance of the OS.

You must have a reading comprehension problem. You were probably absent

during the 4th, 5th, and 6th grade. He was asking about Vista you smart

ass. If he wanted to know about Ubuntu he would have slithered over to the

dark side and entered the Ubuntu forum.

Ubuntu is nothing but a TOY for geeks (desktop) and not ready for prime

time. If it was ready for prime time, everybody would be jumping to it.

Yes, it's free and people just don't want it. Live with it.

True, and I've already had a couple false positives with Kaspersky 6.

Give me a break. We spoke about that last month. You've never heard of the

Nigerian money scam? Better read a newspaper instead of trolling the vista

groups. The reason I was talking about Nigeria is because it would get you

to an area that has limited communications and that would keep you from

spewing your trash to the rest of us. It could be any other poor nation.

Maybe you should go to Eritera, Afghanistan, Somalia, Timor-Leste, Yemen or

another country that would keep you away from posting!
