International characters have been replaced. From Greek to Cyrilli

Hi,

In Internet Explorer and Windows the Greek text has been replaced by Cyrillic.

I’m running Windows XP Professional Greek. When I visit web pages written in

Greek the characters appear in Cyrillic. If I change the encoding to Greek

(ISO) then they are corrected for that page, but it’s not possible to keep

repeating that task every time you go to another webpage. What I noticed is

that after changing the encoding to Greek (ISO) and moving to another webpage

the encoding has also changed back to Greek (Windows), hence it always

defaults to it, regardless if auto-selection is enabled or not. When I first

open IE it has defaulted to Greek (ISO), thus the first page (http://www.in.gr)

appears in Greek text. When I click on a link, it changes to Greek (Windows).

The problem isn’t limited to Internet Explorer 7, Help Center some windows

and popup menus with Greek text are also affected. I’ve used scannow but it

didn’t correct it. I’ve used Advanced Registry Tracer to track changes to

the registry. The only, I think, relevant changes done in the registry at the

following keys:

1) HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-436374069-220523388-682003330-1004\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Shell Extensions\Cached

2) HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-436374069-220523388-682003330-1004\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\Bags\1\Desktop

3) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData\S-1-5-18\Products\8040110900063D11C8EF10054038389C\Usage

4) HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-436374069-220523388-682003330-1004\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\International

Also in IE under Tools, Internet Options and Fonts, the Language script is

defaulted to Cyrillic. If I change it to Greek it reverts back to Cyrillic

once the Fonts window closes.
