Hello,

I have a HP Laptop whose hard disk crashed (on which i ran Windows 7 x64 Professional) and had to replace it. So had to install a trial version of Windows 7 and enter my product key. I have also installed linux in windows with the help of "wubi". My problem is that windows is not getting updated (not able to upgrade to SP1). I have tried skipping SP1 and installing but failed.

My computer has not been able to update for a month now. And every time I try shutting down the computer, it installs updates (which always fail and takes my time ).

I have tried the following methods to solve my problem in the past few days:

1. Restart my computer. (clean boot)

2. Troubleshooting windows update.

3. Installed system update readiness tool.

4. Ran the system file checker tool (which stopped at 7% and says "Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation.")

5. renamed SoftwareDistribution folder.

6. Downloaded Windows 7 SP1 and tried installing. (Didn't work - showed the same error)

7. Used the Microsoft FixIt Tool a few times.

If there is any update I should install or if there is anything I am missing out on, please let me know.

Thank You.
