Posted March 22, 201212 yr This problem started with IE8 (or maybe 7) but is still present in 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Internet Explorer. I have the browser configured to prompt me when a site wants to write a cookie, and also to prompt when entering or leaving a secure site. At times, a security prompt and a cookie prompt will both appear, but it is impossible to respond to either. Sometimes using Task Manager to kill one of the iexplore.exe processes will free things, but more often it is necessary to kill "iexplore.exe" processes one by one until the entire browser shuts down.
