How much times do you need to run a scan?

Hello,

I am just wondering, does MSE (or another antivirus/antimalware program such as Malwarebytes) require a file to be scanned manually (eg. when downloaded from the internet) serveral times before a potiential detection-- or to rephrase it, it is necessary to scan an unnknown or downloaded file serveral times continually with the same antivirus (MSE in this case) before opening it, or does the initial scan already find all potiential threats/all there is to be found. For example, I used to only perform once quick scans once a day with MSE, but now, I am (somewhat paranoidly), doing an update check, then quick scanning once, and performing it again a few seconds after (my guess is that this time,MSE caches the results from first scan as the files scanned # decreases and the second scan is much faster), in order to make certain that viruses/malware does not (by some absurd reason) slip or go undetected by the first scan. I am wondering, is this extra scan straight after the first scan necessary, or will one scan (assuming with the same definition version) detect all there is to detect? In this case, is my habit of scanning files/running quick scans multiple times (one after another) just paranoia, or is there some good merit or advantages to running multiple scans to confirm no threats? Thanks!
