Why do I get a "Internet Explorer has stopped working" error message so frequently?

I'm running IE9 on a Win7 Ultimate os. I keep getting a "Internet Explorer has stopped working" error message, which, following a short checking process on the net, is "officially" repaired, this up till the next collapse.

The event viewer shows the following information:

Fault bucket 2779488644, type 1

Response: Not available
