Are any problems introduced when you sysprep a Windows 7 installation more than once?

If I build a Windows 7 reference computer, run sysprep, and capture an image of the computer, are any problems introduced if I was to then apply the image to a computer, make some changes (install programs, patches, etc), run sysprep, and capture an image of the computer again?

I know it is technically possible to run sysprep on a computer numerous times. It says in Microsoft Press text books that it can be done.

I was once warned never to run sysprep on a Windows client OS more than once, because 'weird stuff happens' with the build. Has anyone ever encountered issues when running sysprep on a Windows client installation more than once?

I am very interested to know what other people's experiences are.
