Office Professional Plus 2010, installation freezes

I have a brand new HP pavilion HPE (model h8-1150UK) I7-core, 6Gb ram, 2Tb hard-drive etc.

 

The first thing I did was to install all the Windows updates to Windows 7 Home Premium SP1

 

Trying to install Office Professional Plus 2011 from original DVDs using the standard option (no customisation of the install set). The installation appears to go well for the first 5 mins and then freezes with no error codes. I left it for more than 5 hours yesterday and it stayed in this condition frozen with the progress bar about 2/3 the way along.

 

I have followed a discussion on the MS website to remove all trace of the previous installs using (support.microsoft.com/kb/290301) so I have as clean as machine as possible as this is the first install I have attempted after the Windows updates have completed and the required restarts done.

 

I'm not sure what I should be looking at to find the cause of the issue, can anyone help?
