Posted February 23, 201213 yr If memory serves, I uninstalled MSE in the last half of 2011 because it was adversely affecting the performance of my computer system. Indeed, the Windows 7 (64-bit) diagnostic fingered MSE as doing that. So I uninstalled it and began using Windows Defender, which has its own deficiencies. MSE is currently offered as "optional" by Windows Update, but it doesn't disclose the version or the date that it was released. As far as I can determine, Microsoft has not updated MSE since July 2011. When does Microsoft expect to release a new version in which the performance issues have been rectified?
