Cannot install due to 'The language of this installation package is not supported by your...

I'm running Win7.

I have a US-English version installed.

I downloaded the Office Pro 2010 ISO but it was too big to burn to a CDROM, so I extracted it and ran the installation from there.

When I try running the setup.exe, I immediately get the error message "The language of this installation package is not supported by your system"

This link says that there will be problems installing if I do not extract the complete folder structure, but I do have the folder structures correctly extracted

Other places say there might be problems if I've tried to uninstall Office but was not able to uninstall correctly. This is a new system, and I have not uninstalled anything.

So I found the installation log file at C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Temp\SetupExe(...).log

There are a whole log of successful XML parsings, but at the end, there is the following error message (my user name is "owner"):
