Posted February 13, 201213 yr I've been using IE since the days of 3.0 and have stuck to it over the years despite the peer pressure to try other stuff but not sure I can keep this up. Note, this is not an IE setting or a misunderstanding. I can replicate the issue on all 3 of my Windows 7 machines. First noticed this in IE8 where if the system crashed whilst IE was running then I would lose all my cookie data (and specifically my 'keep me logged in' type stuff). This would happen 4/5 times. Now in IE9 it just got a whole lot worse. Regardless of if IE is running or not, if the system crashes or there is an unexpected shutdown, the next time you launch IE all your cookies are gone! I would like someone to attempt to replicate this issue for me if they can to confirm that I'm not going crazy here. Part of me is saying this is a deliberate mechanism (knee jerk) designed to prevent undesirable access to cookie data post crash but another part of me says that this is a Microsoft product and surely the dev-bod who suggested it got shot before his/her idea made it big!
