Posted February 11, 201213 yr I have MS Security Essentials (MSE) installed on my HP notebook computer, & keep it up to date. I also have installed the Norton Internet Security (NIS) software package by Symantec Corp. for which I pay approx. $50. per year. As a retiree Senior Citizen, I consider $50. per year a costly & unnecessary luxury if it duplicates the services provided by MSE. In the one head-to-head matchup I have observed between MSE & NIS, MSE came through to detect & isolate the security threat, & NIS failed to do so (as far as I can determine). I am thinking of letting my subscription to NIS lapse, as my very computer-literate son urges me to do. Am I making a mistake to allow my NIS subscription to lapse?
