I am running WinXPPro with SP3. I have replaced my hard drive beause the old one crashed. I have ASR backups on a WD MyBook. When doing an ASR Restore using my original WinXPPro CD with SP1, the drive is formatted and Windows components are installed. When the file selection window comes up to select a backup file, the WD MyBook is not one of the devices on the list. There is only the hard drive, the floppy, and DVDRW drive.

I am not using a USB hub or extension cable. I have an MSI KT4V MS6712 ver 10A system board. I have the latest BIOS update installed and the WD Mybook appears as a drive in the BIOS Setup. The ASR backups were originally done directly to the MyBook, not copied later.

How can I get the MyBook to be recognized and restore the ASR Backup file?

Thanks,

Ron
