I run Windows 7 Pro 64 bit with IE9. Recently I noticed that IE9 stops working whenever I right click any folder in my Favorites. I get the following weird message:

This happens on all websites when I right click a folder in my Favorites. Note the spelling of the word "connectivity" Bad spelling in application windows is always suspicious. Also note that I have an app WS_FTP from Ipswitch installed on my machine, but I haven't used it in a long time. If I click "Don't allow" IE9 stops working and restarts. I then downgraded to IE8 and the problem went away. Then re-installed IE9 and the problem is back. I once saw a pop-up window from IE9 saying that a website is trying to install malware on my computer when this happened, but I did not take a snapshot of the window and never saw it again.

I run a fully updated version of Norton Internet Security 2012 and ran a virus check on my system drive, but it came up clean. I am nevertheless reporting the issue to Norton.

To speed up my boot process, I disable services that I feel are unnecessary at start-up and only re-enable them when they are needed. The services I allow and disable are as follows:

Apart from these, I also disable Apple's Bonjour service unless I need to connect to the Apple store, where it is required.

I run IE9 with the protected mode set to "medium".

My wife has the same identical installation, except that she has a 32 bit system. The problem does not exist on her machine with IE9. Also: No services are disabled on her system. She does not have the Ipswitch app on her system.

Is this an issue with IE9 64 bit, with the Ipswitch app, or do I perhaps have an as-yet undectectable malware or virus on my machine?

Thanks for your support.
