Ie 9 and Win 7 64, can't make some links (looks like Java links) on web pages work

I Am using IE 9 on a Windows 7 64 bit platform. The 32-bit version of IE 9 has stopped allowing certain webpage links to work properly. In one case I noticed these were Java-based links. The 64-bit version of IE 9 seems to work properly but some of the webpages I'm accessing only work with the 32-bit version of IE 9. I've searched the web for solutions, but I'm beginning to think I E9 (32 bit version) have become corrupt or are missing some DLL files. Has anyone had this same issue and how do you fix it? I've also tried uninstalling and reinstalling Java. I've looked at my security settings within IE 9 to see if something is interfering with certain types of links but see nothing. I'm also using Norton Internet security 2012.
