Posted February 1, 201213 yr I recently bought a new PC with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit on it. I did a Windows Anytime Upgrade online to Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. I activated the new version with they key they supplied me without a hitch. A day later Windows is telling me that my copy of Windows is not genuine. When I attempt to re-activate windows I get error Code: 0x80070424 with Description: The specified service does not exist as an installed service. Possibly related - Windows Updates are also failing with the same eror code. I've searched lots of forums for an answer but didn't find one with that same reported error code.
