reformated and reinstalled windows xp sp3 on HP Elitebook 8530P, no sound

I recently had to reformat my HP Elitebook 8530P, win xp sp3, Intel Core 2 duo. Everything is functioning fine except the sound. No sound from internal or external. I have exhausted all the HP website support software and drivers. I updated all drivers, Bios and chipset as well as MS UAA. Device mgr. indicates that all device drivers are working with no problems. I have a .xps document but I don't see a way to attach it. I'm hoping that you can suggest something other than reinstalling everything. Let me know if there is another way to send the .xps attachment.
