Guest bdelros Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 Hello all, I ran in to a problem that Windows automatic update kicks on with the yellow shield at the taskbar during regular business hours. It tremendously slowed down our network. To the point where websites are timing out. I placed a call with Microsoft yesterday asking them what IP addresses Windows Automatic Update uses and heres the list that they gave us: • http://download.windowsupdate.com • https://*.windowsupdate.microsoft.com • http://*.windowsupdate.microsoft.com • http://*.update.microsoft.com • http://*.download.windowsupdate.com • http://update.microsoft.com • http://*.windowsupdate.com • http://download.microsoft.com • http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com • http://ntservicepack.microsoft.com • http://wustat.windows.com • https://*.update.microsoft.com The ones with the asterisks we cant use because our firewall (Juniper Netscreen 500) does not use a URL filter. So, we need the exact adresses that Microsoft/Windows updates uses (ex: download.windowsupdate.com or update.microsoft.com). This is just a temporary fix so whenever this happens we can temporarily block the sites through our firewall. Anybody here know more addresses? Your help is much appreciated. Thanks. Quote
