Posted January 27, 201213 yr MSE is set to run a full scan every night while I sleep. The last three nights, I woke to find the computer completely frozen, with the display on, but unable to move the cursor, and no reponse from any key strokes. I had to power down the system each morning. I ran the full scan today while watching, and found the freeze occuring during the scan of the Windows/temp folder. With Administrator privledges, I deleted everything in this folder and restarted. So far, this has resolved the problem but will not know for sure until a full scan runs again tonight. I should add that the Windows/temp folder was chocked full of some rather lengthly-named folders, most of which were empty, some having two or three items in them. I felt comfortable deleting them since it is a temp folder. I'll let you know what happens in the morning. Continue reading...
