Acer desktop aspire m5800. original os vista home premium 64 bit with windows 7 option to upgrade, which i did. had motherboard failure and no one could match the acer motherboard. micocenter, where I originally purchased, could not match the board with anything. they steered me to an asus board and an amd phenom II processor. said I would be able to reinstall my existing os with reactivating key codes with microsoft help. I did this a year ago with a gateway running vista without any problems, but have seen and read alot about oem installed os not being allowed to reactivate because of the motherboard. talked to acer tech support and they said "new motherboard means new computer to microsoft". They offered to sell me recovery discs but no guarantee that they would work. I guess my Question is " if everything else on the computer is the same will i get a denial from the activation center when and if I get this computer to boot to windows"? thanks for any input
