Posted January 19, 201213 yr I am trying to open different file types in Internet Explorer 6. PDF files were ok. To open Microsoft Office filetypes, I used information from the following support article:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927009 . This was done by tweaking the "BrowserFlags" entry in the Registry. But I cannot do the same for .rtf files. On a machine which doesn't have Microsoft Office installed, the .doc filetype tends to default to Wordpad as the application. So what I want to achieve is that - On a computer that doesn't have Microsoft office installed, if I try to open a link (href) to a .doc it should open in the browser (even if it is associated with Wordpad by default). Is it possible? - How can I get .rtf files to open in IE? Is there something that I need to do in the registry.
