Microsoft Security Essentials Update

My Microsoft Security Essentials Update does not automaticlly update. So when I try to manually update it I get the following error message:

Virus and spyware definitions update failed

Security Essentials could not check for virus and spyware definition updates due to an internet or network connectivity issue.

Click Help for more information about this problem

Error code: 0x80240022

Error descripting: Security Essentials couldn't download the definition updates. This may be caused by a missinbg system file, an incorrect system setting, or a problem with a registry file.

I recently restored my computer, and I don't remember how to set up the MSE updates automatically, and how to use the task scheduler.
