DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE and Error Code 490 and Bugcheck 9f

I just received the latest critical Windows updates, and now my Asus Eee PC 1005-HAB won't start. I just get the Asus screen with option to go into BIOS.

I have tried hitting F8, and after about an hour, I get into startup repair, which does not work. After that I can get into System Recovery Options.

There have been a few messages about the problem.

1. There was something about not configuring the update properly.

2. There was DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE.

3. In one check-up I could get to, it said "Unspecified changes to system config might have caused the problem." Also, "System files integrity check and repair. Result failed: Error Code = 0x490. Unknown Bugcheck: Bugcheck 9f, Parameters = 0x4, 0x258, 0x8396ed48, 0x81d43b24.

I did try restoring to an earlier point, but no effect. I also checked memory, but no problem there.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
