RDP Message: Becuase of a protocal error

Recommended Posts

Hello All

I am getting the follow error message: "Because of a protocol error, this session will be disconnected. Please try connecting to the remote computer again"

I have to click OK and then it kicks me out and ends my RDP session. I have to log back into the Terminal server and try to connect to them again however the same thing happens so connecting again doesn't work

This started happening after some Microsoft automatic updates that apparently updated my Remote Desktop Connection to a new version

I am using an XP sp3 machine. I use RDP and login to a Windows Server 2003 R2 Terminal session then I connect to user who are on that server and are access it through a thin client (wyse box)

Does anyone know what update was done that would have change my Remote Desktop Connection so I can uninstall it or do you know how to uninstall RDP so I can install a previous version. I've looked through Add/Remove programs including windows updates installed and I didn't see anything that was that clear to me. There were about 20 updates done in December and it was after one of those updates that I started having an issue and I don't Remote Desktop as a separate software to uninstall

Let me know if you need information I might have forgotten to give

And Thank you

Lynn
