Not remembering docked profile information

I have a HP Elitebook laptop running Windows 7 Pro x64 that is using a docking station that has a external monitor connected to it.

Recently I had the need to run system file checker to fix a .Net issue we were experiencing, which worked just fine.

The issue afterwards is that after numerous reboots and docking and undocking cycles. The system does not remember that there is a second monitor connected to the system at all. Each time I undock and redock I need to reconfigure the external monitor.

I was under the impression that Windows saved the this information in a "Docked" and "Undocked" profile so this was not neccessary each time.

 

Any suggestions on getting this one solved would be greatly appreciated.
