BCM 2010 Database Tool - cannot connect to database remotely

I have created a BCM 2010 database (SQLExpress) on an SBS 2008 (x64) box. I have shared it with several users on the domain. Having logged in as one the users on a Win 7 Pro (x64) laptop running Office 2010 with BCM, I have attempted to connect to the database on the server but am unable to do so.

I type the name of the server into the input on the 'Connect to a remote database' option and it searches but cannot find the database.

Any help would be appreciated.
