Why is the MSE icon still gold and I'm still getting the "you haven't run a scan in a while"...

I check the history and settings of MSE. I run scans. And still the icon is gold and has an exclamation point in it. When I click on it and open MSE, it still says that I have not run a scan lately. So I run a scan again. It shows nothing infected, but it says in the same screen that I have not run a scan for a while.
