Guest ALC401 Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 Hello, I have an older laptop with Windows XP Media Edition. I use the laptop quite frequently for work and school purposes and today while taking a quick lunch break from using it, the screen went completely dark. I forced it to restart and upon restarting the following message appeared "The Logon User Interface DLL Msgina.dll failed to load. Contact your system administrator to replace the DLL, or restore the original DLL." I searched that term via a search engine on another computer and found a Microsoft site that provided tips on how to alleviate the problem by restoring the computer to its "last known good configuration." I followed the steps which including pressing F8 and selecting a few other options options, but when the laptop was supposed to be restored to the "last known good configuration", it brought me back to the original error message. There are no steps on the Microsoft support site to guide me in the case the restoration failed, therefore I do not know how to proceed. If anyone could help, I would greatly appreciate it!
