I had numerous 14 viruses on my computer so I went to a microsoft site and they said the only way to remove all of them and not have them come back was

to pay 179.00 for the microsoft security essential virus protection which I did thru pay pal. Now I am seeing that it is actually free to download was this a scam?

someone remoted into my computer cleared all errors after I paid and my computer is working now, I am just wondering if I should have had to pay this any info would be greatly appreciated!
