scans are current but orange unprotected flag stays

even though a full scan is auto. scheduled and performed at 2 am daily, at times the orange/red flag indicating computer potentially unprotected stays visable on my bar. (The scan results are clear of threats or virus')

When I manually perform a quick or full scan and restart computer the green flag appears but will turn orange.red within a short time.

* had to guess Beta? windows defender indicated off but could not turn it on so......
