Devx Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 Hi all, I have installed 2008 trial in virtual box and having it blue screen on me when logging in the first time after creating the password, while the message preparing desktop and while some updates are installing. So i uninstalled the 4.0.8 version of vb and installed the 4.0.0 version and installed 2008 again it went though fine , but once a created another vm of 2008 and run it though it blue screened on me again and after about 4/5/6 times of trying to log in it finally went in saying windows has recovering from a unexpected error etc. When debugging the dumps i have got: Unable to load image \SystemRoot\system32\ntoskrnl.exe, Win32 error 0n2 *** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for ntoskrnl.exe *** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for ntoskrnl.exe But the thing i cant understand is this happens when installing a fresh os and while updating, the one that happens on boot is the irql_not_less_or_equal and the one happens while updating is the memory_management Has anyone got any idea why this is happening has my host system is fine, plus i have also installed the same os with vb on my m11x i have and didnt have any issues with that. Many thanks Quote
ICTCity Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 I think in your question there's the answer. The problem could be something not properly managed which corrupt memory. You could try a different virtual software (VMware or virtual PC), just to try if you have the same issue. Devx Posted June 21, 2011 Author Posted June 21, 2011 Thanks for the reply ICTCity, well i have tried vmware server and i only installed one vm of 2008 and it was fine. So what i might do is installed another 2008 vm and see if that is ok Thanks again Quote
ICTCity Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 You can use VmWare workstation. Anyway, if you have a physical server / machine available, consider XenServer from citrix. There's a free version which can run up to 5 VMs. Quote -------------------------------------------------------- Tu peux aussi crire en franais. Du kannst auch auf Deutsch schreiben. Devx Posted June 22, 2011 Author Posted June 22, 2011 I am playing with 2008 at the moment so i just want to turn on/off vm's when i want. Vmware workstation you have to paid of and like i said i am only playing with it but if i was considering full deployment then i want buy it. I have not got a server its just a desktop with quiet alot of ram and storage etc, but i have used xensever while back to was good. I think i have solved the issue when i downgraded the version i had installed to version 4 and there was still issues i tried going down to version 3.2.12 crossing my fingers toes etc i installed 2 vm with 2008 at once and there both went though fine, aswell as when updating 2008 it didn't blue screen there either. So looks like it was the version causing the issue somewhere. Thank for your help Quote
