Ok so I was trying to open a lnk file, but I kept getting an error. I read that to open an lnk file I need to follow these steps.

http://www.makeuseof.com/answers/change-fix-file-associations-windows-7/

Option 1 says to - Go to Start -> "Control Panel" -> Click on Porgrams

- Click on "Default Programs"

- Click on "Associate a file type or protocol with a program." to open the "Set Associations" menu.

- Scroll through the list of extensions to locate the .lnk file extension. The listing will show the description and the current default program associated with it.

- Click on the extension (to select it) and then click on "Change Program."

- Select the program you would like to open *.lnk file types.

- Click on OK.

Ok so when I did that it changed all of my desktop icons to open with that extension. I cant open anything.

My question is, how do I change the lnk file extension back to its original state?
