dvd rom suddenly disappeared and not being recognised by windows xp perf

My dvd rom suddenly disappeared and is not being recognised by win. Is not in the bios either. I have checked for upper filter and lower filter in registery and they are not there!!. I have checked all the forums and non of them worked also fixit could not fix it.

PLEASE HELP ANY ONE!!!!!

PC : PACKARD BELL

OS: WIN PERF SP3
