why cant windows defender offline beta detect the malware when I restart it in the cd mode.

When I restarted my computer from the windows defender offline beta from cd , microsoft security shows protected and couldnt detect any virus/malware but when I started my computer normally and tried to remove the virus it again showed download windows defender offline. Why am I not able to remove the virus?
